I -think- he leaves for a missile barrage when you do a certain amount of health, so if you're not getting enough crates, use weaker weapons till his breaks open enough containers. That's the tendency, but you simply have to wait till the laser coming from beneath wouldn't allow you to stay there. When avoiding the fist beams and jumping up to his fist where the further away fist's laser sometimes goes across screen, just be sure to NOT jump to early. The first starts with rockets coming in diagonally, the second two come straight down. You can only shoot the rockets back at him in his second type of barrage, which is rarer than the first. Oh and the tip about turning the missiles all the way back toward him I didn't realize, SilentBugler, so I'm sure that will help. He's very *cool*, but as was said, his coolness wears off fast when you literally have to spend half an hour only to have him finally kill you and have to start the entire fight (or the relevant bit anyway) over again.
After I beat him once I may get to the point that I just play the thing for fun and *quit* when I hit the end boss. I must say that without this (pretty horrible) flaw, the game is FANTASTIC. Thanks for the tips guys, next time I give the big guy a try I'll focus on just trying to keep myself from getting hit, put on a pot of coffee and settle in for an all-nighter.
Maybe the developer will patch the game and bring the last boss's health down to a rational level at some point. It's really disappointing to see this problem in the game and I agree fully with GTH. Well I'm glad to see at least that I'm not just an idiot and having trouble with something that should be easy.
